IE8 Ditches Version Targeting

Microsoft gains a lot of praise from the Web development community by discarding the possibility of version targeting in IE8.
There’s been a lot of hype about IE8 and version targeting lately. It seems as though Microsoft upset a lot of people when they said that Web developers would have to “opt-in” to IE8’s standards-compliance mode.
After an overwhelming response from the Web development community, Microsoft announced that “interpreting web content in the most standards compliant way possible” is a “better choice”. No sooner than two days after the post, there were literally hundreds of comments on the IEBlog praising Microsoft’s decision.
IE General Manager Dean Hachamovitch concluded, “long term, we believe this is the right thing for the web.”
